# Block party checklist

Set the date and work back: a week-by-week plan from the first permit question to returning the last borrowed table. Your ticks are saved on this device.

## How to use the plan

Enter the party date and each step shows the day to aim for, with anything overdue flagged. Tick tasks as you finish them and add your own under any step; everything is saved in this browser, so you can close the page and come back. **Print** gives a clean checklist for the fridge or a co-organiser, and **Copy as text** pastes the plan into a group chat or email.

## Permits and permission

Closing a street, using a park or playing amplified music usually needs permission from your city, county or council, and some places ask for insurance, barriers or a notice to every household. What is required, what it costs and how far ahead you must apply differ a great deal from place to place, which is why the first step is to ask your local authority directly. Eight weeks gives you room if the answer is “apply two months ahead”, but check: some areas need longer.

## Getting people to come

An invitation through every door does more than a post online, because not everyone is in the neighbourhood group. Make it easy to say yes: a clear time, a rain plan, and a sign-up list with small jobs so newcomers have a reason to talk to people.

## Questions

**Do I need a permit for a block party?**

Often, if you close a road or use public space, but not always. Rules are set locally, so ask your city or council what applies to your street and how long approval takes.

**Who can see my checklist?**

Only you, in this browser. Ticks, custom tasks, the party name and date are stored in local storage and never sent anywhere. Start a new plan clears them.

**Can two of us share the plan?**

Not live, because nothing is stored online. Use Copy as text to send the current plan, or print it and split the steps between you.
